About Me

My name is Stan van Houten and I'm a 21-year-old game-designer.

Making artwork for games is something I've always liked. Since I was 7, I could keep myself busy with designing new games. Creating new ways to play cards or making a boardgame. After I turned 10, I could understand Game-Maker a little.

My mom bought me a book about Game-Maker with tutorials and I learned how to use the program.

Friends and family said I had a talent for creating new ways to play games.

After I finished my VMBO education on high school, I began studying game-design on Deltion College in Zwolle.

Here, I learned you need to work hard to finish an entire project. Sadly, we never got the time to finish a project completely. But my schoolprojects gave me a lot of inspiration. Because of that, I'm always working on my projects when I got the time. I had many short nights because of my projects. But it gave me a lot of experience in creating games for mobile platforms and PC's.

Skills

Below, you'll find the icons from programs I can work with. These are also the programs I'm using a lot during a project.

Learning even more

Every artist should have the "hunger" to learn more. The things you can create can't be enough. That's why I want to increase my skills even further. For example; I want to dig deeper in Unity and 3DS Max. These are the programs I can work with, but not good enough. (Although, that's what I think.)

Creating 3D objects, can be hard for me. But it's necessary in the gaming industry. That's why I want to learn more about 3DS Max and Unity.
